RegCure Is Our Choice As The Best Overall Registry Cleaner For 2007-2008 |
Registry Fix Review Does Registry Fix Really Work?
Registry Fix isn't as popular as the "big two" registry cleaners, RegCure and Registry Mechanic. However, people still ask about this program and it still turns up in searches and advertisements. We conducted our own test to determine if Registry Fix can hold its own against the top software programs.
Registry Fix Specs Registry Fix Review
Publisher
Registry Fix seems to be a standalone product and we couldn't find a publisher company for it, as all references on the site refer only to "RegistryFix.com".
This is a red flag for us, as we only want software that is published by established software companies.
Operating System Compatibility
Registry Fix operates with all versions of Microsoft Windows, but does not advertise Vista compatibility.
Features
Registry Fix has a few extra features:
- Browser Helper Manager - helps to disable toolbars and similar programs
- Startup Program Manager - allows you to limit the programs that load during the boot sequence
- Add Remove Program Manager - allows you to uninstall software programs from your PC
- Full Registry Backup Utility - helps easily make backups of your registry
Our Test Registry Fix Review
Download And Installation
Registry Fix is only available as a download directly from the Registry Fix website.
It's a small file and downloading and installing went very well during our test with no problems.
Interface
The interface of Registry Fix is very basic and rather spartan when compared to the leading registry repair programs. Although this is purely cosmetic, the interface does look a little more amateur. The only saving grace is that this program might run faster for those with slower computer systems.
The Scan
Registry Fix's scan was quite adequate. It did find slightly more errors than RegCure and Registry Mechanic, but we found that some of the entries were not that important to remove. Registry Fix seems to go a bit overboard in finding errors, and presents a greater risk of removing an important file.
The scan runs fast enough, and overall we thought it was fairly decent.
Other Features
Registry Fix is one of the most basic registry cleaner software programs out there. There are no fancy registry compactors or system monitors. However, most of those features are unnecessary anyway. Registry Fix has the most basic features that are necessary to clean the registry.
The browser helper manager is a good feature, although most people will not need to use it. We thought the registry backup manager was very good for the program.
Conclusions Registry Fix Review
Registry Fix does the job that it is designed to do, however we have a few concerns with the people who distribute the program. We would rather spend money on a program that is produced by a reputable software company, such as ParetoLogic's RegCure. Registry Fix is actually more expensive than RegCure, so we honestly cannot recommend it.
Although an adequate program, we think that users get a better value with RegCure by ParetoLogic.
